U.S. Bank Will Add 12-Month Expiration to Rewards Points
U.S. Bank has sent out emails to personal and business cardholders with an important rewards program update. Points earned through U.S. Bank credit card will expire if the account is inactive for 12 months.
Effective April 14, 2025, any new points will expire if the account is not active. To keep your account active, simply make a purchase, maintain a balance or redeem rewards. Points will expire if there is no activity for 12 billing cycles.
The fine print states that points earned prior to April 14, 2025 will not be affected.

But it’s also worth noting that you should not got a year without putting any charges on a credit card. Some issuers will close dormant accounts.
US Bank will waive monthly balances of $1 or less, so if you can find a recurring charge for that amount that’s a $12 profit annually, and it keeps your account active. The Pepper app lets you purchase $1 gift cards, but it’s can be scheduled monthly.
