Donald Trump is facing outrage after appearing to suggest that he would end elections in the US if he’s re-elected while speaking to a Christian audience.
Towards the end of his speech at the Believers Summit in West Palm Beach, Florida on Friday, Trump said, “Christians, get out and vote, just this time. You won’t have to do it anymore … You got to get out and vote. In four years, you don’t have to vote again. We’ll have it fixed so good you’re not going to have to vote.”
Many Democrats interpreted the comments as Trump being prepared to put an end to American democracy, as California Representative Adam Schiff, responded by saying: “This year democracy is on the ballot, and if we are to save it, we must vote against authoritarianism.”
It comes as text messages between members of the Beaver County Emergency Service obtained by the New York Times show that some officers noticed Thomas Crooks acting suspiciously ahead of the assassination attempt at the Donald Trump rally.
The newly surfaced messages indicate that officers were watching Crooks’ movements at least 90 minutes before the shooting.

Republicans are beginning to have second thoughts about JD Vance
The senator has received negative attention after old clips resurfaced of him calling some Democrats, including Vice President and presumptive Democratic nominee Kamala Harris, “childless cat ladies” and arguing that people with children should have more influence over the future of the country than those without children. The vice president has two stepchildren.

Branding Kamala Harris a “bum” and a “failed vice president”, Donald Trump insisted he didn’t “mispronounce it on purpose”, but allegedly doesn’t know how to say her name.
Donald Trump mocks ‘bum’ Kamala Harris’ name during speech
Donald Trump continued to mock Kamala Harris’ name as he spoke at a Turning Point conference this weekend (27 July), insisting he’d “heard it said about seven different ways”. Branding her a “bum” and a “failed vice president”, Trump insisted he didn’t “mispronounce it on purpose”, but allegedly doesn’t know how to say her name. However, just days ago a video surfaced from Harris, where she confirms that her name is pronounced ‘Comma-La’. He also falsely told attendees that should they go out and vote for him now they “won’t have to vote again in four years”.

Ilhan Omar says Trump is ‘losing his memory’ after he confuses her with Rashida Tlaib
Trump and his new running mate JD Vance held their first joint campaign rally of the 2024 season in Minnesota on Saturday, a state the former president lost to Democrats in both 2020 and 2016. During Trump’s speech in St Cloud, he attacked his new presumptive opponent Kamala Harris, endorsed by Joe Biden after the president announced his decision to step aside last Sunday, and also swiped at a local target: Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, a progressive and member of the “Squad” who has been outspoken in her opposition to Maga Republicanism.

Democrats are hard selling Kamala Harris’ message that Trump and Vance are ‘weird’
The Democratic Party’s sudden unification was on full display across the broadcast and cable news networks on Sunday as the party’s biggest stars lined up to deliver talking points on three issues: the strength of Harris’s resume, the perceived weirdness of Trump and his vice presidential candidate JD Vance, and Joe Biden’s lame-duck agenda item, Supreme Court reform.
Speaking on various news shows Sunday were three of the party’s younger, nationally-prominent members, Maryland Governor Wes More, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer also made an appearance on CBS’s Face the Nation. Gov Tim Walz, who like Buttigieg has been considered on the list of potential running mates for Harris this fall, appeared on CNN.

Texts between officers reveal new shooting details
Text messages between members of the Beaver County Emergency Service obtained by the New York Times show that some officers noticed Thomas Crooks acting suspiciously ahead of the assassination attempt at the Donald Trump rally.
The newly surfaced messages indicate that officers were watching Crooks’ movements at least 90 minutes before the shooting.
“Someone followed our lead and snuck in and parked by our cars just so you know,” a counter-sniper texted a colleague as he headed out around 4:26 p.m.
“I’m just letting you know because you see me go out with my rifle and put it in my car so he knows you guys are up there sitting to the direct right on a picnic table about 50 yards from the exit,” he wrote of the suspicious person who turned out to be Crooks.

Trump says he doesn’t care if he mispronounces Kamala Harris’s name
“By the way, there are numerous ways of saying her name, they were explaining to me, ‘you can say Kamala, you can say Kamala’, I said, ‘don’t worry about it. It doesn’t matter what I say. I couldn’t care less if I mispronounce it’,” Trump said on Friday. “Some people think I mispronounce it on purpose, but actually, I’ve heard it said about seven different ways.”

Michigan Senator slams Trump for ‘cheating’ remarks
Speaking in Minnesota on Saturday night, Trump said if Democrats “don’t cheat we win this state easily.”
Republicans haven’t won Minnesota in a presidential race since Richard Nixon won the state in 1972.
“Okay, they cheat. They have no shame, they cheat … They cheated in the last election, and they’re going to cheat in this election, but we’re gonna get them,” Trump said on Saturday.
Michigan Democratic Senator Gary Peters said on MSNBC on Sunday that Trump “is basically a sore loser and he’s gonna lose again and he’s gonna want to blame something else, but it is completely irresponsible.”
He added: “We know elections are free. They’re fair. We saw that last time – no evidence whatsoever of widespread fraud … it’s simply a lie.”
“We’ve got to remind the American people of that and we have to let the American people know by just even questioning an election as to whether or not [it’s] free or fair is a direct attack on our democracy,” Peters said.

‘Why did I pick this guy?’ Senator belives Trump regrets Vance as running mate
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has said he believes Donald Trump is regretting his choice of picking J.D. Vance as his running mate.
Speaking to Face the Nation, Schumer said: “Every day, it comes out Vance has done something more extreme, more weird, more erratic.
“Vance seems to be more weird and erratic than President Trump, and I’ll bet President Trump is sitting there, scratching his head, and wondering, ‘Why did I pick this guy?’”
