Southwest Partners with Icelandair for European Flights
Southwest Airlines and Icelandair have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch a partnership in 2025. The partnership will allow customers to easily connect between the two airlines’ networks.
Icelandair will become Southwest’s initial airline partner, but an additional partnership is expected to be announced for 2025. That news was revealed in the Southwest Investor Day presentation.
The initial North American gateway between Southwest Airlines and Icelandair will be Baltimore (BWI), with other destinations to follow. From these gateways, Icelandair customers will have the opportunity to connect to numerous Southwest destinations.
Southwest customers will benefit from connections to Icelandair’s network, which includes five airports in Iceland, four in Greenland, and 34 destinations in Europe. That means easy connections to popular destinations such as Paris, London, and Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Rome, Lisbon, Barcelona, and more.
Southwest says it will eventually sell partners through its channels, with assigned seats. More details are expected during the Investor Day presentation this Thursday morning.
