If you pay tuition, now you have an option to earn points while doing so. Meet the Rise Card, which is similar to Bilt, but for paying your tuition instead of rent. The card has no annual fee, earns 1X on tuition payments, and 3X on dining. I don’t see a signup bonus for the card, and there’s a waitlist for now. Check out the details below.

- 1X point on tuition payments, while paying no transaction fees. You can earn up to 100,000 Rise points from tuition payments each year, which is equivalent to $100,000 in tuition spend.
- 3X on dining
- 2X on grocery purchases

Paying Tuition
The Rise Tuition Card works at every private K-12 school, community college, 4-year college, and grad school program in the United States. Even if your school only accepts ACH/checks, you can earn points on tuition with Rise.
When you receive your Rise Tuition Card, you’ll also receive an account number and routing number tied to your account. On your school’s payment portal, click that you’d like to make an ACH payment, and enter your account and routing number tied to your Rise account. From there, we’ll execute the payment by doing your choice of:
- Rise Safeguard: Pulling the balance directly out of one of your savings or checking accounts connected to your Rise app.
- Rise Credit: Adding the balance as a transaction on your Rise Tuition Credit Card.
- Rise Loan (future offering): Connecting you directly with a partner loan provider who will provide the balance amount.
You can set up which payment method you prefer in your Rise app. All payment methods will reward you with 1x Rise points per dollar spent on tuition.
Rise does NOT offer 1x points on student loan payments or room & board payments.
Using Rise Points
When it comes to using the points you earn with the Rise Tuition Card, then your options are limited. For now you can only redeem for select gift cards at a value of 1 cent each. Here’s the full list of eligible merchants:
