Thursday morning, Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of West Broadway Boulevard and Industrial Drive because it had expired registration. The driver, Richard Magee, 51, of Warsaw, gave consent for Deputies to search the vehicle. After checking Magee’s information with the PCJC, it was learned Magee was on probation for a June 2022 charge of Possession of a Controlled Substance. While searching the vehicle, Deputies located a Styrofoam cup in the cup holder. After opening the lid, Deputies found a plunger from a syringe protruding from the liquid inside. The syringe was loaded with a brown substance that field tested positively for methamphetamine. Magee was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges of felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tampering With Physical Evidence in a Felony Prosecution, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bond was set at $7500 cash or surety.
Deputies were dispatched to the 1200 block of South Osage Avenue Tuesday evening to investigate an assault report. Deputies spoke with the victim on scene, who stated the assault occurred earlier that evening in the 28000 block of U Highway. The report will be turned over the Pettis County Juvenile Office for a follow up into charges of Assault in the 4th Degree.
