Amex Gold Card Revamp
As rumored, American Express has revamped the Amex Gold Card and the changes are now live for new and existing cardholders. The revamp includes a higher annual fee, new benefits and changes in current benefits, a new design option, and last but not least, an increased welcome bonus of 100,000 points and 20% back on dining for up to $100 credit. Let’s take a look at all the details.

The annual fee for the American Express® Gold Card is now $325 for new applicants, up from $250. There is no annual fee for up to 5 Additional Cards. The annual fee for 6 or more Additional Cards is $35 for each Card.
Current cardholders will have to pay the higher annual fee for renewals on or after October 1, 2024.

Enrolled Basic Card Members can earn up to $50 in statement credits semi-annually when Card or Additional Cards on the enrolled Account are used to pay for eligible Resy purchases. However, each enrolled Card Account is only eligible for up to $50 in statement credits from January through June and up to $50 in statement credits from July through December, for a total of up to $100 per calendar year in statement credits across all Cards on the account.
This benefit is not available to Classic Gold, Traditional Gold, or Senior Gold Card Members. Please note, enrollment may take up to 24 hours to take effect on your Card.
New $84 Dunkin’ Credit
Enrolled Basic Card Members can earn up to $7 in statement credits per month when the Card or Additional Cards on the enrolled Account are used to pay for eligible Dunkin’ purchases. $120 Dining Credit Changes
Receive up to a $10 statement credit per month, for a total of $120 per calendar year in statement credits across all Cards on the Account. Participating partners are the newly added Five Guys, as well as Grubhub (including Seamless), The Cheesecake Factory, Goldbelly, Wine.com, Milk Bar (through 9/25/2024), and select Shake Shack locations (through 9/25/2024). Excludes Shake Shack locations in ballparks, stadiums, airports, rest areas, museums, and racetracks. In-person transactions and online orders only valid if made from participating partner locations in the U.S.
Effective September 26, 2024, Milk Bar and Shake Shack will no longer be participating partners for the $120 Dining Credit.
Limit on 4X Points At Restaurants
The Amex Gold Card earns 4X membership Rewards when you dine at restaurants worldwide. This increased earning rate has now been capped to $50,000 in purchases per calendar year. That shouldn’t be a huge issue for most people, but I’m sure it affects some cardholders.
New Card Design Option
As part of the Amex Gold Card revamp, you can now choose either the Gold, Rose Gold or Limited Edition White Gold design when applying for the American Express® Gold Card. The White Gold design is available while supplies last.
You can choose your design when applying or you can do a card replacement and get a different design from the one you currently have.
