150K Retention Offer for Amex Business Platinum Card
American Express has long been one of the more generous credit card issuers when it comes to retention offers. These are offers that are extended to existing cardholders who are looking to close an account.
These offers vary widely based on many factors. For example when I tried to close a Business Platinum Card® from American Express over chat last week, I received the following offers:
- $200 credit for $20K spend
- $300 credit for $30K spend
- 40K MR for $30K spend
This are all terrible retention offers, so I just went ahead and closed that card. But apparently it might be better to try calling in when looking to close a card. Travel on Points reports a retention offer of 150,000 points, which is almost as good as a signup bonus.
150K Amex Business Platinum Retention Offer Details
- Earn 150,000 Membership Rewards after spending $15,000 within the first 3 months of accepting the offer.
- $695 annual fee on The Business Platinum Card® from American Express is NOT waived
It’s also worth noting that when accepting a retention offer from American Express you can not close the card for 12 months from the time of accepting the offer. That’s usually nit the same as 12 months from when the annual fee is charged, so make sure to note that date.
Is It Worth It?
This is as good of a retention offer that I have seen for The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, or any other card for that matter. That bonus is easily worth more more than $2,000 and you also get all the credits and benefits that the card provides. So even paying the annual fee, you still come out way ahead.
Up to 250K Signup Bonus
If you are looking to apply for The Business Platinum Card® from American Express, then you can currently find offers as high as 250,000 Membership Rewards points. The highest offer is targeted, and it might take a bit of work to find it.
But there’s also an offer for 200,000 Membership Rewards that should still be available by phone.
