Marriott Bonvoy and Aeroplan Partnership
Marriott Bonvoy and Aeroplan have expanded their loyalty partnership by offering a status match and two-way currency transfers.
Through this enhanced loyalty partnership, Aeroplan 50K, 75K, and Super Elite Members will receive complimentary Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite Status.
Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite status benefits like:
- 25% Bonus Points on Stays
- 2 p.m. Late Checkout (subject to availability)
- Enhanced Room Upgrade (subject to availability)
- Welcome Gift of Points
On the other hand, Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite and Ambassador Elite members will receive complimentary Aeroplan 25K Status. That would get you:
- Complimentary preferred seats at check-in
- 2 Complimentary Checked Bags
- Complimentary Preferred Seats
- Priority Boarding
- 2 Maple Leaf Lounge Passes
- 25 eUpgrade credits
The joint member must link their Marriott Bonvoy account and Aeroplan account to unlock the status match across programs.
Aeroplan Elite Status Members can now also convert their Aeroplan points into Marriott Bonvoy points at a 1:1 ratio. While this adds more flexibility to how members can use their Aeroplan points, it doesn’t provide great value.
This is in addition to the already existing ability for members to convert their Marriott Bonvoy points into Aeroplan points at a 3:1 ratio.
Guru’s Wrap-up
This is a decent addition to the partnership as it gives you more options to earn elite status and to use your points. With that said, it really doesn’t make sense to transfer Aeroplan points into Marriott Bonvoy points at a 1:1 ratio.
