Aeroplan Family Points Sharing
Aeroplan first launched Family Points Sharing when it revamped its loyalty program in 2020. But in 2023, Aeroplan ended this feature dure to widespread abuse. Now it’s back again with an additional verification step.
With Aeroplan Family Sharing you can combine Aeroplan points with family members – for free – so you can accumulate points faster together and redeem for rewards sooner.
How Aeroplan Family Sharing Works?
- Up to 8 Verified Family Members can join together to share points, while keeping their own Aeroplan accounts.
- You can invite your spouse or partner, children, siblings, in-laws, parents, grandparents or anyone else in your family.
- All points earned by members are added into a shared balance, including their existing points balances.
- Members with redemption privileges can use points from the shared balance to redeem for rewards.
- Have a primary Credit Cardholder in your pool? Everyone can benefit from their preferred pricing.
- You must wait 6 months before joining or starting a new family sharing pool.
- Family Members must stay in the pool for a minimum of 3 months before they can leave.
- Members can join only one Aeroplan Family Sharing pool at a time.
- You must contact Air Canada by phone to be removed. The Family Lead can also call on behalf of a Family Member to request removal.
- As of February 2025, you must be a Verified Aeroplan Member to be eligible to create, join or invite others to join, or change permissions within an Aeroplan Family Sharing pool. Learn more about Aeroplan Account Verification.

Guru’s Wrap-up
Aeroplan has re-launched Family Points Sharing. This is a great feature that all programs should have, as it makes it easier to pool points towards a redemption.
Aeroplan has now added a verification step, but it doesn’t seem to have any restrictions on who joins a pool, as long as they are verified.
