40 Hyatt Place Hotels Don’t Offer Free Breakfast
The Hyatt Place brand is well known for its free breakfast. Even if the quality if often not there, you at least expect the option of having free breakfast when you book a Hyatt Place stay.
But that it no longer the case at all properties in the United States. Hyatt is apparently running a test at 40 properties, where they are charging extra for breakfast.
You can pay extra for the breakfast when you first book your stay, or you can pay at the hotel. Here’s what it looks like at Hyatt Place Portland-Old Port:
As you can see, you will need to pay $14 more for free breakfast whether you are a member or not. Some other properties are charging either $11 or $8 per person for this “upgraded” breakfast menu, and it can be slightly more when booking the breakfast rate online.
This has been going for at least a couple of month. But the trial has expanded from 10 to 20 and now 40 properties as reported by TPG. They also ran a similar trial pre-pandemic.
“At the moment, a limited number of Hyatt Place hotels in the U.S. are piloting new grab-and-go menu options while others are testing a rate plan that allows guests to book a stay that does not include breakfast. World of Hyatt Globalists continue to enjoy a free breakfast at all Hyatt Place hotels globally,” Hyatt told TPG in a statement. “For guests at hotels that are piloting a rate plan option that does not include breakfast, guests are informed of the various rate options when booking, and are reminded again at check-in, and via collateral in hotels. Guests who booked before this alternative rate plan was first offered at these hotels in September still receive breakfast with all rate plans.”
