Pay Rent With Any Card in Bilt App
Bilt is a loyalty program that lets you earn points for rent payments. In order to accumulate any decent amount of rewards for rent payments, you need to have the Bilt Mastercard. There’s no fee when paying rent through the Bilt app, and you earn 1X point per dollar up to 100,000 points every year. You can then convert points 1:1 into favorite airline miles and hotel points, among other things.
But now Bilt is letting you pay rent with any credit card that you have added to your Bilt wallet. You need to sign up for Bilt Rewards first, which is free. Then if you go to pay your rent, and choose the “Pay rent online” option, you can choose any card from your wallet. However, paying with a non-Bilt card will cost you.
As you can see from the image above, when paying rent with a non-Bilt credit card you will have to pay a 3% fee. You also earn 250 points per rent payment, which is only about $3.
This new option seems to apply to properties that are part of the Bilt Rewards Alliance. Earning points on rent payments by check, which works for any property, is currently only available for Bilt Mastercard cardholders.
Paying your rent with a credit card for a 3% fee is not very exciting, but it’s good to have the option just in case you need it. This is similar to Plastiq, which charges a 2.9% fee.
Bilt revealed recently that is plans to venture into mortgage payment rewards.
