Coventry City are delighted to announce the signing of Yasin Ayari on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion.
The 19-year-old Swedish international midfielder join the Sky Blues until the end of the 2023/24 season.
Yasin made his professional debut in December 2020 for AIK at the age of just 17, having progressed through the youth ranks. He would go on to make a total of 48 appearances for the Swedish club, netting six goals.
In January 2023 Ayari moved to the English Premier League with Brighton and Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee, signing a four-year contract. He made his Albion debut in March during the 5-0 FA Cup win over Grimsby Town and played three times in the Premier League last season, making his full debut in May.
Yasin represented his native Sweden at Under 17, Under 19 and Under 21 before making his full international debut in January’s friendly against Finland, picking up another cap in a friendly with Iceland.
Manager Mark Robins said:
“We’re very pleased to welcome Yasin to Coventry City.
“He is a versatile player who can play across the midfield area, but predominantly central, and is technically adept too with pace and energy.
“He had an impressive spell at AIK in Sweden where he played a lot of games for his age and is highly thought of at Brighton, who signed him in January.
“We’d like to thank Brighton for allowing Yasin to join us on loan now and we look forward to working with him this season.”
