Qatar Airways Cardholders Can Now Get Reward Fee Waivers
Cardless and Qatar Airways launched two new credit cards for U.S. customers earlier this year. Now there’s a new benefit for both cards, which can be quite valuable if you book rewards flights, but it also requires some serious annual spend.
Starting today, Qatar Airways Privilege Club is rolling out a reward fees waiver for cardholders of their Privilege Club Visa Infinite and Visa Signature credit cards. Here are the new benefits:
Cardholders can now get a full refund on reward fees for award flights booked with Qatar Airways. The new Reward Flight Fee Waiver only applies to Qatar Airways operated Award Flights that are booked and flown during a qualifying Fee Waiver period.
New benefits will save travelers up to $600 in Business/First Class and up to $300 in Economy on every round-trip award flight.
To qualify, cardholders need to spend $15,000 in their first card year and $25,000 in subsequent years to unlock this benefit, which will be refunded as a statement credit after the flight. In the event that you have not made at least $25,000 of eligible purchases, then your eligibility for the Reward Flight Fee Waiver will be suspended until you have made at least $25,000 of Eligible Purchases in a 12-month period.
This new offering makes Qatar Airways credit cards even more attractive for frequent travelers flying on award bookings, assuming you can get that spending done annually.
Guru’s Wrap-up
Spending $25,000 on this card, would probably cost you $250 compared to a 2% cash back card. So you have to take the opportunity cost into account when calculating the value of this new benefit. With a couple of award flights on Qatar Airways you should come out ahead.
