Polyhedra’s Proof Cloud comprises a ZK prover marketplace and benchmarking platform for L2 developers.
Zero-knowledge web3 infrastructure continues to expand.
On July 31, Polyhedra Network announced the open-beta launch of Proof Cloud, a “zero knowledge (ZK)-as a service platform” developed in partnership with Google Cloud.
The platform allows developers to select between multiple ZK provers, reducing the developmental overhead associated with building out bespoke Layer 2 solutions.
“The goal of Proof Cloud is to make zero-knowledge proofs more accessible to all, in both web2 and web3, and we’re excited to work with teams like Google Cloud… to make this possible,” said Eric Vreeland, chief strategy officer at Polyhedra Network. “By using the Proof Cloud ZK-as-a-service platform, developers can leverage the fastest and most efficient ZK provers, reducing their computational costs by up to 90%.”
Proof Cloud also includes Polyhedra’s Proof Arena platform, which comprises a benchmarking tool that developers can use to test the performance of their ZK provers.
“The platform enables developers to submit provers, run benchmarks, view comparative results alongside other proof systems, and contribute new benchmarking challenges,” Polyhedra said. “Through unbiased testing, developers can determine how their algorithms compare to the others in Proof Cloud and ultimately choose the one that is the best fit for their needs.”
Provers are responsible for creating the computational proofs that validate Layer 2 transactions, and thus comprise a crucial component of rollup architecture. Proof Cloud will be utilized by the Ethereum Layer 2 development teams Polygon, Linea, and Lita at launch.
“Tools like Polyhedra’s Proof Cloud are critical to lowering the barrier to entry for building with ZK and add much-needed transparency to the space,” said Sandeep Nailwal, the co-founder of Polygon Labs. “We are excited to make Polygon’s industry-leading proving technology available for all developers in Proof Cloud.”
Polyhedra claims that Proof Arena demonstrated its Expander prover to be the fastest in the world, boasting a throughput of 16 million hashes per second depending on the hardware it operates on.
The price of Polyhedra’s ZKP token is up just 0.2% over the past 24 hours and 15.7% over the past 30 days, according to CoinGecko. However, the token is down 67.5% since tagging an all-time high on its March 19 launch date.
