National Cinema Day is Back! $4 Movie Tickets Nationwide
National Cinema Day is back for a second year at movie theaters across the country. For a single day, U.S. cinemas will feature cheap tickets for whatever movie you decide to see for just $4. That includes even new movies like “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer”.
Theater owners announced Monday that the second annual National Cinema Day will be held Sunday, Aug. 27. For one day, all movies will be $4 at participating theaters, for all formats and at all showtimes. More than 3,000 theaters around the country are participating in this year’s one-day event.
Last year’s inaugural event was an enormous success, with tickets prices only $3. An estimated 8.1 million moviegoers bought tickets on Saturday, September 3, 2022. That made it the highest attended day of the year for theaters. The average full-priced movie ticket in 2022 was $10.53.
This year, the day is moving up slightly on the calendar, from September to August. It is also shifting from Saturday to Sunday, and costs $1 more.
