Montenegro’s justice officials have reportedly stated their intention to extradite Terraform Labs founder Do Kwon to the United States instead of South Korea.
Kwon has been locked up in Montenegro since March. Both prosecutors in the US and South Korea are aiming to get Kwon to sit under their jurisdiction.
Montenegro Authorities Decide Kwon’s Fate
A recent report indicates that the justice officials plan to send Kwon back to the US rather than South Korea to face criminal charges. This is according to familiar people with the matter.
On December 6, BeInCrypto reported that Kwon appealed the High Court’s decision to extradite him:
“I do not accept the court’s decision to extradite me, so I do not submit to the court’s decision.”

However, just weeks prior to this, the court determined that Kwon could face extradition once he completes a four-month sentence for passport forgery.
South Korea and the US authorities have both requested Kwon’s custody. However, the final decision remains in the hands of Montenegro authorities. Meanwhile, it wasn’t that long ago that Kwon was willing to be sent to South Korea.
Kwon had been on the run from international authorities since September 2022 prior to this.
