Last Sunday, Amtrak halted its services north from New York’s Penn Station after the closure of a parking garage on W51st Street just west of 10th Avenue above the tracks in Hell’s Kitchen. It’s a year today since Sullivan Street Bakery on W47th Street flooded — wiping out their holiday plans. Owners Maya Joseph and Jim Lahey praised customer Leslie Boghosian Murphy for helping them cut through New York bureaucracy and get open again. She was initially rewarded with “free bread for life”, but yesterday she swapped that honor for having an SSB delivery truck named after her. “I went for vanity over carbs,” said Leslie as she sat in the vehicle’s cab.
