Rodriguez lives in Minnesota and has had songs in ads for local tourism campaigns and international ads, along with a Budweiser Super Bowl commercial. He has toured with The Civil Wars, NeedToBreathe, Drew Holcomb & The Neighbors, Andy Grammer, Will Hoge and many others.

Fond du Lac YMCA will be open 24/7 as of Nov. 1
The Fond du Lac Family YMCA has announced that as of Nov. 1, the facility will be open 24/7 to adult members 19 and older.
Beginning Oct. 1, members can apply for access at the Welcome Center. They must sign a waiver and agree to the policies and a background check. There will be an additional $5-per-month fee.
Those who qualify will also have to purchase a key fob for access for $25. The Wellness Center, family gym, Studio 4 on-demand classes and lobby restrooms will be open every day, all year long. The rest of the facility will be closed including the locker rooms.

Lowenstein to perform in area as part of Thrasher program
Thrasher Opera House will bring music to local communities for those who may not be able to attend a show at the Green Lake venue.
The Thrasher Reaches Out program will feature Peter Lowenstein, a Ripon College student and musician. Loewenstein, 20, is from Oshkosh and began studying music at 5 years old. He has studied guitar, piano and voice, and now plays and sings folk/pop covers and plays classical music on the guitar. He also teaches privately in Oshkosh and Ripon.
The program will offer a series of events this fall at several locations including the Ripon Senior Center, Russell Manor, Diverse Options, Kindred Hearts, Markesan Resident Home and Prairie Place.
An artist reception and concert will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 8 at Thrasher Opera House, 506 Mill St.

Flu clinics offered in advance of season at SSM Health locations
As flu season nears, the SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac Regional Clinic offers several seasonal flu vaccination clinics for adults and children.
Children must not be ill on the day they go for their flu vaccines, and children 8 and younger getting a flu vaccine for the first time will need two doses, one month apart.

Thrasher annual meeting open to members, public
The Thrasher Opera House Corp. will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Thrasher, 506 Mill St., Green Lake.
There will be a presentation of a financial report, activities update and election of the Board of Directors and officers. The meeting is open to members and the public.
The Thrasher was built in 1910, restored in 1997, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. For more information, visit thrasheroperahouse.com.
Holy Family hosts annual Oktoberfest event Oct. 7
The Holy Family Catholic Community will host its annual Oktoberfest event Oct. 7. The event was started in 2021 as a way to celebrate the church’s German roots.
In addition to traditional German food, Latin cuisine is offered. The event includes live music, raffles, a petting zoo, giant yard games, cotton candy, trivia and a market where local artisans will offer their work for sale.
Oktoberfest begins at 4 p.m. at Holy Family Church, 271 Fourth Street Way, Fond du Lac, with Mass where readings will be offered in English and German.
Following the service, activities will take place in the Prayer Garden. The German folk band, Dorf Kapelle, will perform — in authentic German attire.
Admission is free. In the event of rain, the festival will take place in Holy Family Hall.
Presentation on elections kicks off new learning series
Ripon Public Library will offer a new Adult Learning Series. The first session will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at the library, 120 Jefferson St.
Ripon College Professor Emeritus Martin Farrell will give a presentation on “Elections in a Democracy.” There will be time for questions following the presentation.

Hayride Festival to benefit church’s youth group
A Fall Hayride Festival will be held Oct. 8 by Ridge Road Global Methodist Church, W7910 Church Road, Fond du Lac.
The day begins with worship at 10:30 a.m. Food will be served noon to 2 p.m. and includes brats, hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, bars and cookies. At 1 p.m. there will be a dedication to bless the building addition.
The event also includes games, balloons and a bonfire. Hayrides will be offered at noon, 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. The rides are free, but a freewill offering will be accepted.
Proceeds benefit the Ridge Road Church Youth Group.
Learn more about living with diabetes during six-week class
A six-week Healthy Living with Diabetes program will begin Oct. 11. The program is for adults of all ages with type 1 or 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, or live with someone who does.
The program is offered through a partnership of SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac County Health Department, the Wisconsin Institute for Healthy Aging, and the Fond du Lac Family YMCA
Participants will get information about healthy eating and nutrition: food label reading and meal planning; relaxation techniques; communicating with your health care provider; goal setting; exercise; problem-solving; stress and depression management and more.
Sessions will run 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesdays, Oct. 11 to Nov. 15 at St. Agnes Hospital, 430 E. Division St., Fond du Lac.
The classes are free, but a $10 donation is requested for the workbook. Participants also get a free YMCA membership for the duration of the class. To register, call 920-906-5547.
