Citi Premier Card Going Away May 9
We have been hearing rumors about new Citi Strata cards that should be launching later this year. There’s the Citi Strata Elite and the Citi Strata Premier card.
Frequent Miler reports today that the Citi Strata Premier card will replace the current Citi Premier card, which is what we assumed when the names of the cards were first revealed.
Citi Premier will not be available for new applications as of May 9, 2024. Citi Strata Premier will then launch on May 16, 2024. We do not know what kind of bonus eligibility rules the new card might have. Currently, bonus ThankYou Points are not available if you have received a new account bonus for a Citi Premier account in the past 48 months.
If you’re thinking of applying for the Citi Premier now, the welcome bonus is 60,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months of account opening. You also get 10 ThankYou Points per $1 spent on hotel, car rentals and attractions booked on the Citi Travel portal through June 30, 2024. t also earns 3X ThankYou Points on popular categories such as supermarkets, restaurants, gas stations and travel.
Citi Strata Elite is expected to replace the Citi Prestige card, but that card has no launch date as of yet.
Citi Strata Premier Details
The Citi Strata Premier card on the other hand will have a welcome bonus of 75,000 ThankYou points after spending $4,000 in the first 3 months.
The earning on the card will be the same as the current Citi Premier card, with additional 3X on EV charging. It will also get the same $100 hotel credit, and will have an annual fee of $95. The new card will also include travel protection including Trip Delay Protection, Common Carrier Trip Cancellation and Interruption Protection, Lost or Damaged Luggage, and car rental insurance.
