Chase Freedom Surprise Category, Earn 5X on Insurance & Tax Prep
Chase Freedom is celebrating 15 years of rotating cash back categories in 2025. Chase says that cardmembers can expect a year full of surprises in store from special categories to bonus rewards.
For the first quarter of 2025, cardmembers will have one of these bonus categories on top of the regular 5% categories listed here.
Starting March 1st through March 31st, you will earn 5% cash back on a birthday surprise category: Tax Preparation & Insurance. This is showing up in the app only for now, but I assume that we will see it online too and possible Chase will send out emails as well when we get closer to March.
The terms state the following:
“Activate by March 14th and earn a total of 5% cash back from January 1st through March 31st, 2025 on up to $1,500 in combined purchases at Grocery Stores excluding Walmart and Target, Norwegian Cruise Line, Fitness Clubs & Gym Memberships, and Hair, Nails & Spa Services, including our surprise category, then earn 1% cash back in these categories.”
So it looks like the surprise categories will count toward the quarterly $1,500 spending limit. Insurance could be a good way to maximize this quarters spending, so keep an eye out for this offer.
