Chase Freedom 5% Categories for Q4 2024
Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex are great products to have in your wallet. They have no annual fee and earn Ultimate Rewards points when you have another Chase premium card. They also have 5% quarterly categories, which can be a good way to rack up rewards.
Now the Chase Freedom bonus categories have been revealed for Q4 2024. Let’s check out the full details.
Chase Freedom Cards
The Chase Freedom and Freedom Flex cards earn 1% on all purchases but also 5% on rotating quarterly bonus categories, up to a combined $1,500 in purchases. So you can earn up to $75 every quarter, if you maximize the eligible categories. You can even have more than one Freedom card. But it gets much better than that, since the cashback can be used as Ultimate Rewards points.
To do that, you need to have one of the premium or business cards from Chase. That’s Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve, Ink Business Preferred or Ink Business Plus. Then the points earned with your Chase Freedom cards can be converted into Ultimate Rewards points and transferred to travel partners.
Chase Freedom 5% Categories
The categories for the fourth quarter of 2024 have now been revealed. The new 5% categories include:
- McDonald’s
- PayPal
- Pet Shops
- Vet Services
- Select Charities
You can earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases in these categories from October 1 to December 31, 2024. You can activate the new categories here, starting on September 15, 2024. Must activate by December 14, 2024.
Guru’s Wrap-Up
PayPal is the probably the best category for this upcoming quarter. You can use PayPal for most of your online purchases, so it should come in handy. If you like McDonald’s you can also earn 7X on those purchases during this quarter.
Don’t forget to maximize this quarter’s categories as well. You have until the end of the day to activate these categories and until end of September to spend $1,500 at:
- Gas Stations
- EV Charging
- Select Live Entertainment
- Movie Theaters
If you don’t have the card, you can sign up and earn a $150 bonus cash back when you spend $500 within the first three months. Plus you get 5% cash back on gas station purchases on up to $12,000 spent in the first year. You can also product change other Chase cards, if you want it but don’t really want to apply for a new card, especially with the bonus being on the lower end.
