It appeared to be business as usual at Starbucks stores in Broome County despite a move by a union to encourage workers to walk off the job.
A check of operations at two Starbucks locations on the Vestal Parkway and a store on Front Street in the town of Dickinson turned up no sign of employee protests.

Starbucks Workers United, which represents employees at some of the company’s stores in the United States, organized what it billed as the “Red Cup Rebellion.”
The union called on workers to go on strike on Thursday when Starbucks held its Red Cup Day promotion. Customers could receive a reusable cup if they bought certain drinks.

According to the Starbucks Workers United website, customers and allies were being encouraged “to hold solidarity actions outside of non-union Starbucks stores to demand Starbucks respect union rights.”
The union said walkouts occurred at more than 200 stores but its website indicated only a few of the job actions occurred in upstate New York.
