Here’s my experience using Botify AI to interact with premade AI characters and create and interact with custom ones:

Step 1: Create a Botify AI Account

I started by going to botify.ai and creating an account by selecting “Sign In” on the top right.

Without an account, you can freely chat with any of the AI characters. However, you’ll be missing out on some key features like the ability to create custom characters.

There’s also a premium subscription where you can get full access to photos and voices, unlimited messages, private bots, role-playing, and more!

Step 2: Select an AI Character to Interact With

Once my account was created, I was taken back to the character selection screen.

It was time for me to choose the AI character I wanted to interact with! My character options ranged from ones I could flirt with, to celebrities and fictional characters. These could be filtered with the categories at the top.

Step 3: Engage in a Conversation with the AI Character

I started a conversation with Pokimane, the most followed female Twitch streamer.

She started the conversation by saying she just wrapped up a gaming session and asked if I had any suggestions for what she should play next. I asked her what her favorite game to play was.

The responses I got from Pokimane were pretty instant and the conversation flowed seamlessly. It even sounded like her! However, there were moments when her responses came in a bit slower than expected.

I found that to get the most out of your conversations with Botify AI, don’t ask vague questions. Be as specific as possible for the most engaging conversations.

Step 4: Create an AI Character

I wanted to try and create my own custom AI bot, so I selected “Create AI Character” on the top left.

Step 5: Describe Your AI Character

This opened a new window where I could create my own custom AI character with Botify AI!

Here’s what I had to fill out to create my custom AI character with Botify AI:

• Profile picture (select a photo from your device or generate an AI image)
• Enter your character’s name and choose their pronoun
• Add a description of your bot’s personality and backstory
• Describe the appearance of your bot (gender, age, race, skin color, body type, hairstyle and color, eye color, and clothing style)
• Describe the first message that will be sent by the bot when starting a new chat
• Choose an AI voice for your custom AI character
• Select whether or not you want to generate photos during the conversation

I wanted to have some fun with my AI character so I decided to create one of Emma Chamberlain. She’s known for her quirky, relatable personality and unique approach to content creation. She also stands out for her candidness, humor, and openness making her a favorite among younger audiences on platforms like YouTube and Instagram.

When creating a custom AI character with Botify, I highly suggest basing it on someone with a strong, well-defined personality. For example, Emma Chamberlain’s blend of authenticity, humor, and relatability ensures engaging conversations that resonate with a wide audience, especially Gen Z.

The AI captured her distinct tone effortlessly, making the conversation feel natural and engaging. I could easily imagine the real Emma saying these things!

That’s just scratching the surface of some of the things you can do with Botify AI. But the free plan is a great way to get started with Botify and familiarize yourself with its features!

Overall, Botify AI truly brings AI characters to life! I had fun interacting with personalities like Pokimane and creating custom AI characters like Emma Chamberlain. Botify AI is able to effectively capture distinct, authentic voices and quirks that align well with the actual individuals.

Top 3 Botify AI Alternatives

The first Botify AI alternative I’d recommend is Character AI. I tried Character AI for myself, and it functions very similarly to Botify AI. With Character AI, I could also select and interact with any of the premade AI characters and create custom characters (I made one of Albert Einstein!)

Like Botify AI, the interactions I had with the AI characters felt remarkably human, with fluid, engaging conversations. However, I found that with Character AI, there were more practical AI characters I could interact with. For example, there was a “Trip Planner” (an AI character specializing in trip planning) and I was able to plan a Europe trip to the best restaurants in Europe with a few simple prompts.

Regardless, both platforms excel in creating customizable, engaging AI characters. Botify AI stands out for its ease of use, multilingual support, and social sharing. On the other hand, Character AI offers a richer conversational depth and a stronger focus on educational and creative applications, such as language practice and historical figure interactions.
