Amex Platinum Card Will Drop SiriusXM from Digital Entertainment Credit Benefit
American Express has announced an update to its Digital Entertainment Credit Benefit for The Platinum Card® from American Express. In early May, SiriusXM will no longer be one of the eligible services for the $20 monthly credit on the Amex Platinum Card.
The update was shared in monthly statements that have gone out over the last few days. It’s strange that the card’s terms online don’t note this change. Here’s the text of the announcement and a screenshot:
“Update to the Digital Entertainment Credit Benefit
We are updating the partners participating in the $240 Digital Entertainment Credit benefit for which eligible purchases made by Basic and Additional Card Members on the Account can earn up to $20 in statement credits per month, for a total of up to $240 per calendar year in statement credits across all Cards on the Account.
Effective May 8, 2024, SiriusXM will be removed from the benefit and purchases at SiriusXM on or after May 8, will no longer be eligible for the benefit.
Enrollment is required to receive the benefit. Please note, enrollment may take up to 24 hours to take effect on your Card. All eligible purchases made directly with participating partners at Disney+, ESPN, HULU, NYT, Peacock, and WSJ.”
Guru’s Wrap-up
The change goes into effect on May 8, 2024. If you are using the Amex Platinum Digital Entertainment Credit benefit for SiriusXM, then charges should post before May 8 in order to qualify for the credit.
It’s sad to see that American Express is removing another service for Platinum cardholders. Back in October of 2023 they removed Audible.
Let me know in the comments if you were using this benefit, and if this affect the value of the Amex Platinum card for you!
