Amex Rewards Checking Offers Bonus Points on Spend
American Express has launched its first-ever limited-time debit card spend offer for the Rewards Checking account. Starting today through July 31, new and existing American Express® Rewards Checking Debit Card Holders will be able to earn even more rewards on purchases.
Instead of 1X, which is the normal earning rate on debit purchases, you will earn 4X Membership Rewards® points for every $2 spent. This offer is available up to $1,500 in eligible debit card purchases.
Purchases made by all Debit Card Members on the Account are eligible for the additional points but will count towards a single $1,500 maximum. After you reach the $1,500 maximum, you will continue to earn 1 Membership Rewards® point for every $2 of eligible Debit Card purchases.
Keep in mind that purchases may fall outside of the offer period in some cases (and therefore not qualify for the offer), such as if the official purchase date differs from the date you made the purchase.

This is a great earning rate for a debit card, and it can be useful for payments where credit cards are not accepted, or there’s a fee for paying with a credit card.
Otherwise, there are many cards out there that earn 2X points on all purchases with no limit. Plus many American Express cards earn bonus points on select categories.
