Buying points is normally not a good idea, but it can make sense in some cases especially when there’s a promotion. Buying Choice Points at 0.69 cents each can provide some value for properties abroad in places like Europe and Asia.
The points are sold through Points.com, so it will not code as a travel purchase. But you should use a card that earns at least 2% cash back, or the Choice Privileges Select Mastercard which earns 10X points on these purchases.
