Delta MQM Rollover Now Live
Delta Air Lines announced in September of 2023 that it would get rid of Medallion Qualifying Miles (MQMs) and Segments (MQSs). Instead, SkyMiles members will qualify for Medallion elite status solely through Medallion Qualifying Dollars (MQDs).
Delta said that since MQMs will be going away, SkyMiles members with rollover MQMs from 2023, will have a one-time choice to convert them into redeemable miles, MQDs or a combination of the two. Now this option is live and you can make your choice in your Delta SkyMiles accounts.
Convert MQMs to Miles and MQDs
You will have until December 31, 2024 to decide how you would like your Rollover MQMs converted. You can choose to convert them to MQDs, miles or a combination of both. Here are the choices:
- 100% miles and 0% MQDs
- 75% miles and 25% MQDs
- 50% miles and 50% MQDs
- 25% miles and 75% MQDs
- 0% miles and 100% MQDs
If miles are selected, the Rollover MQM balance will be converted at a ratio of 1 mile per 2 MQMs. If MQDs are selected, the Rollover MQM balance will be converted at a ratio of 1 MQD per 10 MQMs.
Extend Status with MQMs
Members with MQM Rollover balances over 100,000 can also choose to extend their 2024 Medallion Status for 1 year per every 100,000 Rollover MQMs. By using 100,000 MQMs, you can keep your medallion Status through Jan. 31, 2026.
Any Rollover MQMs exceeding a 100,000 threshold, and which are not used for Status extension, can be converted into miles or MQDs using the applicable conversion rate above. For example, a SkyMiles Member that has 550,00 Rollover MQMs and who has earned Diamond Medallion Status for the 2024 Medallion Qualification Year is eligible to extend their Diamond Medallion Status for up to 5 years (500,000 Rollover MQMs) and can elect to convert the remaining 50,000 Rollover MQMs into miles, MQDs or a combination of both at the conversion rates above.
