United Airlines has revealed minor changes for MileagePlus members for 2024. Premier® program requirements will not change for next year. You will not have to earn more Premier qualifying points (PQP) or take more Premier qualifying flights (PQF) to get status. United is also making it easier to earn PQP with United MileagePlus credit cards issued by Chase. Let’s go over the details.
How to Earn United MileagePlus Premier Status
United MileagePlus will have the same elite requirements for 2024, where you qualify for status throughout 2025. Your progress toward status is measured by though Premier Qualifying Flights (PQFs) and 4,000 Premier Qualifying Points (PQPs), or just through the latter. Qualifying activity earned during the calendar year (January 1 through December 31, 2024, is valid from the day you qualify through the end of the program year on January 31, 2026.
To track your progress, visit the Premier status tracker.
PQP Jumpstart for MileagePlus Elite Members
Premier members get a head start in 2024 with automatic PQP deposits. All members with full Premier status on February 1, 2024, will get extra PQP added to their account. The number of PQP is based on status level.
Earning PQPs with MileagePlus Credit Cards
Cardmembers will now earn 25 PQP for every $500 in qualifying card spend on eligible MileagePlus credit cards. At this new rate, cardmembers can earn PQP faster and more frequently through qualifying purchases on their card. Previously, cardholders would earn 500 PQP after spending $12,000 on purchases. With this change, you’ll achieve 500 PQP after just $10,000 in spending.
All card-earned PQP will now count toward each status level, including the PQP-only requirement for Premier 1K status.
Earn more PQP annually with the United Club Infinite Card. In 2024, you can earn up to 10,000 PQP from qualifying purchases on your United Club Infinite Card, up from 8,000 PQP in 2023.
Annual cap of 15,000 PQP removed. That means that you can earn more from qualifying spend across multiple eligible United MileagePlus credit cards issued by Chase.
